Anglo-Saxon Workshop
Today, Paddy from Durham University came to teach us all about Anglo-Saxons. We had great fun handling lots of artefacts, discussing what we thought they were and who may have used them. We particularly liked the sword and helmet!
After lunch, we saw a beautiful replica of the Lindisfarne Gospels. Did you know each gospel begins with a picture of the author? This is followed by a carpet page then an incipit page. This page starts with a large illuminated letter. Ask us why a carpet page has that name! Carefully, we used goose feathers and paint to write our name in Latin.
We have had a wonderful day. Thank you Paddy!
